Ciao ciao!!

This is where I live. I am not from here, but moved here 30 years ago. A great place to live, the view is incredible, we are at the border between Liguria and Tuscany, and I love it. Trebiano is 1000 years old, it was created when the nearby Roman town of Luni (from Lunae, Moon in Latin) was sanded by the river Magra and became unhealthy because of the so created marshes. The major citizens of Luni needed a place from where they could control the valley, and created the castle the remnants of which you can see in the photo. Luni was famous as it was the embarkation port to transport the marble of the near by famous caves of Carrara (in this area, if you are "poor" you have a marble floor; if you are "rich" you have wood :-)). The castle is now in ruinds, and the village is empty in winter but quite alive in summer, as many foreigners and people from North Italy bought the homes there (a bit unconfortable, tall and with one room per floor, with high steps; and the streets are very narrow: this way the locals could protect themselves better from the attacks from arab pirates looking for slaves) to spend their relaxing holidays.
