That dang creek there has done some serious flooding this year. Wonder if anyone's ever tried kayaking that creek when it's really up???

I and my wife was there for the "official" opening of the extension and the commemoration of that plaque. We got two of the bandanas that day. I had hiked most of the Pinhoti Trail back in the late '80's. Now I guess I need to pick that hobby up again and add to my miles. Still got the same North Face stuff I had back then. And it still is holding up very well.

My Grandaddy, Hugh McClung, was a member of the CCC and was stationed on Flagg Mtn. He was involved with the building of that tower. This one is much prettier than Cheaha's tower in my opinion. I was lucky enough to go up in the tower in the Fall of 1987 or '88 while it was still being maned (womaned?). That is a beautiful view from up there!! Sure do wish this place was opened for the general public to see!

Nice looking shot! I hope to see that same view one day from my motorcycle on a trip to Sturgis all the way from here in Alabama.

I was told by a local that this was the depot. It had a longer platform that extended on the track side.

Actually, Jim, the Crescent is a North and Southbound train. Amtrak 19 is the Southbound version and Amtrak 20 is the opposite, Northbound version.

Thanks for the comment fuscia! No, unfortunatly it doesn't. As much as the TVRM would love to use it, they are forced right now to bus everyone up from here to a out of the way location down the tracks.
