Thanks for the 'before' picture! August 28 2014 Trains magazine (trn.trains.com) used this location for their photo of the day with the new trestle.
When did you take this picture? It looks like pieces of the new trestle are sitting in the grass.
Fantastic photos Stagmie, please consider joining my group your photos would be great fit for North American Railroaders. An invite has been sent to join, they're currently over 900 members already in the group of which the photos are focused on our continent's railroading heritage and future...
Also if you like to check out the new Google+ Page for North American Railroaders. Joining Panoramio groups should help to increase your view counts..
That's awesome Stagmie! I live within 15 miles of the Tennessee-Alabama border and there's a rest stop on the Alabama side if I'm not mistaken. I'll definitely have to make a quick trip up there sometime soon and ask for one of the '08 ADOT Railroad Maps. I'll be sure and say, "Yeah, I know the feller who took all these pictures. Me & all his friends call him Stagmie." haha... Keep up the good work!
I echo the other comments first of all. To me this picture just says, "industry." It's very mechanical-looking. Another trainload coming in to power the plant to make the iron and so on and so on... I visited the Vulcan statue once when I was a young kid.
While I was a student at the Univ. of Ala. I went to several parties at "The Old Train Station." It's very nice inside with plenty of room for a couple hundred people and a ten-piece band, if that's what you wanted. Good times...fuzzy memories. Just kidding...ROLL TIDE!!
Stagmie's conversations
Very nice Picture. Like, Best regards
That thing has been roaming the streets of Goodwater for several years. I haven't seen it in a while.

Nice job! Athens is my hometown. I was just curious about something; out of all the train depots that you've visited, which are your favorites?
