Purely a hobbyist snapshot photographer, from the county of ESSEX in the UNITED KINGDOM. ----------------------------------------------------- I know little about photography and just do the best I can with a point and shoot Compact.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think the best browser for viewing this site is GOOGLE CHROME. I have tried using other browsers such as Internet Explorer and Firefox and find that they seem to create a degree of image distortion that doesn't occur on Google Chrome.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Since January 2012 the compact I currently use is a Nikon Coolpix P300 12.1 megapixels. All of my photographs before 2012 have been taken with my previous camera a Nikon Coolpix 4600 4.0 megapixels.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ For the purpose of editing my photographs, I use a couple of different free software applications , namely , FASTSTONE IMAGE VIEWER or CYBERLINK PHOTODIRECTOR 2011.

Cheers for the appraisal Steve. Both are fairly old shots taken on our little old Nikon Coolpix 4600 which has been semi-retired by our Nikon Coolpix P300 early last year. However I am now hoping to find a way of getting my mits on Fuji X-E 1 , dreaming on...................

Many Thanks for the info Sam , next time I get up to Yorkshire I would like to see this for myself, it all looks very impressive , I can't imagine that there are many full time lock keepers on our inland waterways.

Currently unselected for Google Earth even after a 2nd review. No idea why that should be as this is my own photo of a known location. Waiting for Panoramio to get back to me and explain the decision.

Welcome to the group "British Lakes"...Nice pic :)

Drivers get caught out here often , especially as the ford dips deeply at it's middle point and is probably another 6 inches lower than the depth already shown at the edges.

Take a look at the BR Class 37 website and the history of this loco is a long one that has seen it operate all over the British Isles.

Thanks for the explanation, I've updated the title. I have vague recollections of visiting the indoor swimming pool as a child! The Dolphin does make slightly more sense now!
