We met someone cruising single handed and I wonder how they managed the lift bridges. I've seen pictures of lift bridges propped open with some sort of pole while a boat passes under, but I can't work out how you'd get back on your boat after opening the bridge, since on this stretch at least you end up on the wrong side for the towpath !
