Rainbow Valley is located South of Alice Springs (at 24°16'17.83"S 133°32'38.45"E according to the Go to in Google Earth)which is also incorrect for the well known and often photographed, like this, site..
After doing some searching in that general area, I found it, and a number of photos, at 24°19'58.63"S 133°38'24.84"E.
By road, this would be about 320 km south of Ti Tree, and by air the distance would probably be around 200km.
From memory, the distance down the Stuart Highway to the turn-off is 76 km, and the turn-off is only 20 to 30 metres after a cattle grid. I have not been there for a number of years, but when I was last there, there was no signpost, which I thought was very surprising for such an often photographed (and featured in calendars, etc) spot. The road is traversible in good conditions by two wheel drive, except for the last kilometre or so, and there is a maintained campsite there (small, minimal facilities) as this is a (small) National Park, I think also including Chambers Pillar, unless that is a separate Park.
