Ellund Huegelgrab

Round Barrow in Schleswig-Holstein.

Pretty big Round Barrow, may be about 10 Meters high, located very close to the Danish border.

Last weekend i was in Ellund (very close to Flensburg and the Danish border) to search for the 014 and 015 tombs of the Sprockhoff Atlas...

I found a place for the car, and right there was an informational board for tourists...

There was one point on the map saying 'Megalithic Tomb', and this point was almost exactly were I was standing.

And yes, it was right arround the corner, just 15 metres further at the L192 street.

The informational sign explains that this Dolmen was excavated some 200 Meters east, from a Round Barrow called 'Rovhøj', a danish name.

Inside the top of a small tumulus, four uprights form a chamber, on top a broken capstone. This capstone is broken into 3 parts, but has been put together in the old position. (Prof. Sprockhoff mentions these three parts as lying outside the tomb before).

Gluecksburg is very famous for its perfect castle. The village is located eastern of Flensburg, the area of Angeln.

Two Capstones are still there, but it seems not in their original position.
