Thank you very much for your comment regarding the Yew tree.The oldest tree in Madrid is 376 years old.It is situated in Parque del Retiro.(since 1633).It is a an "ahuehuete" (Taxodium mucronatum).It is the national tree of Mexico.

St Martins is idyllic. What you see is the grounds of the small hotel (the only one on the island). There are no cars. You can walk around the island in 1/2 a day. Even in the school summer holidays, the place is never crowded. Access is restricted to the number of boats that can reach it. Heaven on earth.
