I love the sense of place. From the culture of an area to its surrounding landscape, every location has its own character and personality. Mainly focusing on God's beautiful creation--the natural landscape--wherever I go, I try to capture that personality with my camera. Western/Southwestern US is my favorite to photograph. As an effect of growing up in New Mexico, I love an open sky and broad view. Genesis 28:16

Indeed, it probably is, but most playas don't have a perfect circle of trees surrounding them. That's what makes it mysterious.

The last entry on this picture from little Broadview, NM, was in 2011. Here we are in 2014 still needing rain! Jeremiah 14:4 reminds us of how we feel during drought, "They are dismayed because the ground is cracked because there has been no rain in the land. The farmers, too, are dismayed and bury their faces in their hands." Come, RAIN! Come!

The remains of the Taiban Presbyterian Church, constructed in 1908 before New Mexico became a state. The 400 citizens of Taiban had great hopes for this little town on the prairie. It once a bank, hotel, several shops, a school, a post office, the church, and was a stop on the railroad. A peaceful little burg? Not at all! The four bars and liquor stores were the only place to buy booze for 100's of miles to the east. Old folks will tell you that people used to fly their planes into Taiban to cart liquor back to West Texas and Oklahoma when these here parts were dry as a dusty day!
