Beautiful shot. Too bad it's in the wrong country. All your Moraine Lake photos are in the Canadian Rockies, but you've located them in Washington State at a Moraine Lake that takes a day of serious mountaineering to reach.

Thank you. I spent a week there and left frustrated over not being able to capture the island's beauty. I wanted panoramas, but my best was this little keyhole shot.

This little creek is perfectly clear, narrow enough to jump across in places, and as deep as it is wide.

A donkey engine is a powerful, fixed winch used in logging to drag the cut trees to a central point. This steam donkey exploded in 1923, killing an operator, and effectively ending commercial logging on Cortes Island for decades.
