Douglas W. Reynolds,…'s conversations

Amazing, isn't it? But in fact it is a device little larger than a domestic parking meter, which seems to have some magical powers related to the boatlift from which I am photographing the scene. Cropping it out of the picture would have deprived us of the edge view of Purtan Bay where the gentle Leigh Creek joins the waters of the mighty York River as it flows to the Chesapeake Bay. Realigning the position of the tripod to avoid including the device would almost certainly have introduced all of us into the waters of the bay, and I am not in a financial position to do that. So it is what it is, warts and all, and if it please thee not I am truly sorry.

A relatively new structure across the street from Little England Chapel (previously photographed in some detail), providing a variety of services and open spaces for the use of the community.

Thank you, r.w.! Google Earth as usual takes a dim view of it.

I should certainly credit Mr. Tom Forehand, Site Coordinator of Smith's Fort Plantation, a Preservation Virginia site open to the public on the coming Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays through the summer, for drawing my attention to it: I had never before seen one in the wild.

Don't worry--I am inordinately proud of it! Thank you very much, r.w.!

See how good I really am? I confess I did not myself park (or even paint) the car, but the composition nonetheless is mine alone!

Well of course I did not personally plant this little patch of greenery, but I did examine it somewhat for any sign of Poison Ivy before I planted myself. For someone who is fond of all kinds of light watercraft it is perhaps the perfect location to spend the day, as all the traffic of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway will pass him by, and much of it is impressive. "A bottle of water, a can of Deep Woods Off!, a loaf of bread . . ."--and perhaps a folding chair . . . ". . . Paradise enow!"

Thank you, mr. dawson! Morning Glory Baptist Church is a sight sure to surprise and delight anyone driving along the nearby S.R. 610--and as you see, this day it was as shiny as a new button!

Thank you very much, Antonio! It is always good to hear from you!

Best wishes!

Doug Reynolds
