rohanjames's conversations

This old homestead was built for the Symes family, the same family that owned the Age newspaper . It used have a steel tower at the back for old Symes so he could watch out for his racing pigeons . There was a small petrol engine driven train with the track starting under the house (which is on 2 metre high stumps), the track ran down the hill out onto the jetty, there was an siding which also ran into the milking shed .

Don't be fooled, there is no warmth in the sun out there, it's a bitterly cold wind blowing off the Arctic .

Panoramic view of Lagoons beach . The east coast of Tasmania has many deserted beaches like this, only ones that really get to enjoy the view are the sheep .

The money maybe good, but it's a harsh and unforgiving Bass Strait with bitterly cold winds and heavy seas . It's rare to see a sunset like this and smooth seas .

This is the only petrol station at Woods Point, a quiet little place which had it's time back in the gold rush days, nothing much has changed since the 1800 other than the addition of the petrol station, and the towns is better for it as it is a beautiful place to visit .

Notice how each seal puts their head on the back of the seal in front . These are female whoa are part of the Harem of one male seal, and there is a pecking order for who gets a spot on the pipework .

Panoramic view of the Hazards, well worth walking over to see one of the worlds most perfect beach - Wineglass Bay .

Picture was taken from the resort looking toward Diamond Island, a protected fairy penguin rockery .

Story goes that it started off as a wharf, then became a house . Has a Port and Starboard lights which go on of an evening .
