This picture shows nicely how the sea level has risen a bit by 2008. The palms are standing on the old upper tidal area... intertidal nowadays.

es 'salitre'... sales que suben a la superficie por capilaridad durante la evaporacion y se depositan en la superficie formando una costra segun el terreno.
