I first arrived in Japan in July 1977 at the city of Niihama on the island of Shikoku. I spent a total of 13 years in country, during which time I visited every prefecture. I resided in Ehime, Tokyo, Okayama, Kagoshima, and Kagawa—where I lived in Yokohama, sister city to San Diego, California, my current home. Much of my travel throughout Japan was done by bicycle with my cycling buddy Bryan Harrell, a current resident of Japan and a noted food & beverage journalist. I welcome comments from other Panoramia users with an interest in Japan.
