devvyn's conversations

This was an interesting, secluded place slowly being reclaimed by nature. The rush of water in the canal could be heard and the stench of sulfur came in periodically.

The bridge in the foreground seems out of use, and might be for a service road that follows the rails which pass through the CN Station in Niagara Falls. The bridge in the background still actually carries the rails. The roadway under the bridges is parallel to a hydro canal and connects Whirlpool Rd to the back lot of a chemical plant on Stanley Ave.

Moments after these stitched-together shots were taken, a winter thunderstorm rolled in and everything went white. I couldn't see across the road to cross safely, and I could hear thunder overhead multiple times. An hour later, it had moved away and the sun had gone down.

The street I was standing on to take these stitched shots is full of hotels and restaurants, yet this spot has a view of a virtually undeveloped spot of land along the river. It's a weird contrast which really illustrates the way the region likes to treat the river area like a park yet jam-pack the commercial zones immediately next to it.

Not a great view, and the light was terrible, but I wanted to see what it would look like to stitch a bunch of shots together into one panorama.
