Silvija Butkovic

Silvija Butkovic was born in 1964 in Osijek. As a child she lived on the island Lošinj and returned to Slavonia when entering the University. She lives and works in Djakovo. She works in commercials and marketing. Languages are her great love and despite her business occupations she still finds time for photography, free-verse, prose and haiku. Lately she has been making photo haigas, thus combining the Japanese poems and the photographs. For her photo-haigas she received excellent reviews on the competitions organized on the internet (www.worldhaiku.net/haiga) by The World Haiku Association. In year 2004 she published her first collection of poetry titled (TOUCHED BY A DREAM),2007. second book ( A RELEASED DROP ). Her third book, the love free-verse 'Zapletena u mreže' (Entangled into Nets) is being prepared for publishing as well. Silvija has taken part in many competitions, both as a poet and photographer in Croatia and abroad (Japan, UK, France and Italy). The island Lošinj and the heart of the Slavonian plain where she lives, are her constant inspiration. She adores horses and watches them in her own way through the objective of her camera. Her photographs can bee seen on the internet photo galleries and sites.She had so far eight of its photo exhibition. Silvija is a member of the 'Photo-Club Djakovo', The Association of the poets 'Antun Ivanosic' in Osijek, the Association of haiku in Zagreb and World Haiku Association in Japan.
