Dan Gearhart's conversations

Camped here on September 1, 1991 overnight, and decided to stay at the lake resting during the next day while the rest of the climbing party went on to the summit.......The lake was fully visible on both days, and my chest diaphram hurt a bit so I decided to scrap the rest of the climb.....I was 38 years old at the time......We left our cars at Bunny Flat.......I loaned my blue ice ax to a church pastor named Kirby Parker from Butte County if I remember his home location correctly.....Kirby worked in the same janitorial sales company as I : CSG Supply ( J.C. Nelson Supply at the time ) out of Chico, California.....I lived in Los Molinos, in Tehama County in those days, and sold janitorial supplies over a four county area....... We were in a climbing party of around 10 people........César M. González, Miami, Florida, U.S.A.

Very beautiful place!

Nice contemplative moment!

Very beautiful geology!

October 14, 2014. The trail leading from the Chaparral parking area to the Balconies Caves. It is about 1/2 mile from the parking area to the talus caves.

I am glad to report that the confusing trail sign mentioned above has been removed. Since there is not sign, simply remain on the trail. There are several places to camp in this area. When the water is low, you can camp on the sandy flat areas. There is also a well established campsite between the trail and Highlands Creek. If you are at the large tree on the ground just walk over towards Highlands Creek. The campsite is about 100 feet off the trail.

Have enought water ?

Yeah, Spring is the best season here. It does get a bit hot in the Summer, but I go anyway, because the sky is great for astronomy. You can see some of my astrophotos at my Flickr account. https://www.flickr.com/photos/26408253@N03/
