The road on the other side of Taxal ford goes up a steep incline to the Buxton road (A5004) joining at a large lay-by.
The tracks on either side of this ford are badly eroded leaving a 1 foot drop into the water on each side - not vehicle friendly. There is however a well built footbridge just out of shot downstream to the left.

I took this photo in 1996 atop Silbury hill. The revelers are members of a protest group who were against the building of the nearby Newbury bypass that cut through the heart of unspoiled countryside including Snelsmore common.
I took this alongside the footpath that runs from Orton lane on and up to the old Yew tree spring at the top of Ladywell woods.
