This was the very waterwheel used in the film, The Eagle Has Landed. The Germans, in Polish uniforms are in the village. A little girl falls in and one of the Germans dives in to rescue her. He saves her, but gets caught on the waterwheel and drowns. His Polish uniform is also torn open to reveal his German Fallschirmjaeger uniform!!!

All the photos by nickle98 are in fact in the village of Chiddingfold, Surrey. Hambledon is nearby but is a much smaller place. The church is St Mary's.

The memorial to the 28 boys and two teachers lost when their school was hit by a German bomber on 29th September 1942. Ages range from 7 - 12 and two sets of brothers died. The names can be read on the CWGC (Commonwealth War Graves Commission) site.

This is the site of the school. Apparantly a German bomber must have been looking for a target on which to jettison his bombs. I've been told that due to the high chimneys of the local laundry, the pilot might have thought it to be a factory of sorts. He let his bomb go and tragically it hit the school. Canaian soldiers in the pub, most probably from Camp Witley went to help but were apparantly met by a horiffic scene.

The tiny little church is in a sad state. It's all boarded up, but there's nothing inside, looking in from the gaps in the boards.

Most of these soldiers are from A, B or C Companies of the 104th C.J. CJ I have no idea, but I guess it's Canadian, since Camp Witley was a Canaian camp throughout WW1 and 2. I've been there a couple of times to walk the dogs, but there's absolutely nothing there and only the names on local walking maps give you a clue that it was military. There is not a single piece of building, just flat, scrub, countryside.

This is a kitchen fan and it's over 300 years old! The heat from the fire would turn it. That would turn shafts which would pull chains which would turn the spit.

I can't put many more shots in as they have too many people in them, but EVERYTHING around this, the road to the left, the lake and the little village was ALL a set built for BoB. Then, further south on the runway, is the Camp Toccoa set. CGI filled in the rest as you'd have seen it.
