This is the Manly Corso, a road that runs from the harbour near the ferry wharf to the surf beach. In post-1788 times, waves have actually washed into the harbour, though not any more. Geosurveys have revealed sand going down at leat 10 metres below sea level. One day, North Head will be an island once more.
