look at new suggest new Location com in March 2014

Can we see this in the group "This once was"?

Can we have this in the group for Post Offices?

The new part sure does take away from the majesty of the old. You did well here.

sehr sympatisches Gesicht!

Boy, if only you you got all the fire houses everywhere you got the court houses...!

The Northern Pacific Railway provided daily passenger and mail service to MELVIN with 2 trains daily. A north bound train from St. Paul to Winnipeg and south bound train from Winnipeg to St.Paul There were 3 rail sidings and the 2 trains often met at Melvin Station mid afternoon with the first to arrive pulling onto a siding and waited for the other to arrive and pass on thru. Small community that it was there was a large amount of freight shipped out of Melvin; Most of it gravel from Thorsons pit and washed, graded and processed by Spring Gravel Co.[Fred Rieman,Mgr].Also baled hay loaded onto freight cars and shipped to stock yards in St.Paul. At an earlier time there was a grain elevator with a rail siding along side; Melvin[MJ]Urness Manager. The Ramonas[known then as Gypsies] made an annual summer sojourn to an encampment near the junction of the rail sidings and the main track; About 1/2 mile S/E from store location along Mn.State HY102

My father, Florian (Smoky) Schultz built the original Smoky's Bar and Lounge. He expanded when I was about 10 to include a larger dance area and a kitchen. My mother, Barbara Schultz, was a musician and played with numerous North Dakota bands at this location. Smoky's (when my dad owned it) was known for great music and dances and their delicious post-dance smorgasbord and Friday night fish fry. When my dad decided to retire and sold the structure, it was renamed Smokey's (with an e). My dad, who is 94, is still a fantastic cook and lives in Grand Forks.

Served there at that time, too. Good snap

Oh, Just thought about this the signs are gone.
