This is a view looking North East from a road traversing the Mountainlands reserve. To the left of this photo a couple of km away is Eureka City, an early goldmining town that existed for only four years. Close to that is the Sheba Gold mine, the oldest operating mine on earth.
The Mountainlands Reserve is the site of some of the oldest exposed rocks on earth and has an amazing diversity of fauna and flora. Recently, a number of antelope species and other larger indigenous mammals have been re-introduced to the area.
