Kenneth Christian's conversations
I spent a night there this past Saturday, 3 Oct 2009. The charm of Gladys is superb, but for some odd reason we were assigned a room right by the road's edge with no view (we were a couple with only our 11 year old son). Cost was $123 per night + taxes. Cleanliness and treatment was excellent, ...though.

Not much has changed between your shot and mine The same stuff seems to be out on the street. I was there right at the end of 2007 and it looks like you had better weather.

The owner is a true patriot... ;-)
It'll never go out of fashion, Independance comes round every year.
Shame on me, I didn't paint up my house for independance day. Maybe an off white or cream might be my choice though.
Did you buy anything from the shop?

The ancient Carib aboriginals settled in vast numbers in Grenada before Columbus discovered the island. They practiced a largely sustainable livelihood of fishing, hunting and farming until the English disturbed them in 1609 and the French in 1638. A French colony was established in 1650 through the trade of simple knives, hatchets, glass beads and brandy for the Chief. A year later hostility erupted from the Caribs and the French were given orders to eradicate the aboriginals. After bloody struggles the remaining Caribs were driven to the north of the island. Forty or more Caribs reportedly jumped to their deaths off Leapers Hill rather than surrender to the French. It is rumored that some Caribs survived the fall and swam to safety. The French called the cliff "Le Morne de Sauteurs" or Leapers Hill. The town that grew up around the cliff became known as Sauters.
