Yes, as you can see, the area was burnt out not long before we visited. We were very disappointed until we realised that the fronds weren't actually dead, but were silvery new growth.

The steel viaduct that bridged the valley from the old tunnel was dismantled in 1927, when the new railway line (visible) was constructed.
