This Century Plant was in full bloom at this time. Soon thereafter, the center flowering stalk died and withered away. The main plant is still present, but will probably not flower again for a couple of decades or more.

This photograph was taken on 05-15-04 at a very low period of the river levels. Location is the Spring House (Sulphur Springs), just outside the entrance to the park. The Highway 136 bridge would be visible looking further south if the season was late fall or winter.
