It was an exciting day. The wind was blowing away from me and the fires slowly burned away to the north as I took the photo.
However, soon the thunderstorm created a big cloud of dust and the winds were coming back toward me and my truck.
Visibility was about zero for a half hour. When the storm lifted, no rain had fallen on me. The fire activity was redistributed a bit, but heavy rain had dampened the northward advance of the large head of the fire.
I thought the fire would then be contained, but I have read that's advance has continued since Aug. 14.
