Yet another Changi baby- born 06/11/1964- to Beryl and Michial (Kenneth) Thompson who were based in singapore with the RAF at the time. Planning to visit Singapore in Oct 2012 and hope to get a look at my birthplace before it disappears for good. JOnathan Thompson

I was at Warton for 5 months from July '63 (rtnd from Cyprus before posting to Chivenor). I wa sonly 12 mind you, but I remember using the school hols to explore most of the camp. The picture shows the entrance to the north section (occupied by the Yanks during WW2) - derelict in 1962. The south section where we were billeted was a bit further towards Warton village (entrance on the the right going east). I went to school in Kirkham for a few months. Glenniffer, the small married quarters you're referring to is probably Freckleton, east of Warton.

Magnificent shot. Certainly the best of the Beetham I've seen.

Pam,
I can remember the raffles at the Merry Monk: top prize a pack of meat; second a box of eggs. It must have been around the mid 1980's.
