Part of the street furniture outside the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle. The official address for the Laing Gallery is New Bridge Street, but as a visitor you may miss it following this road. Instead, head for Higham Place, the street that adjoins this Square.

Taken from City Road as we walked uphill from the Malmaison Hotel. I like the way the bridge nestles into the landscape as natural as anything but clearly one of the greatest unnatural constructions in the North East! The Bridge is currently closed (2007) due to cracks in the concrete pillars being detected.
