Hey guys I go to know one or both of you. I was the Civil Affairs team sgt and I am well familiar with that mission into the "socket". As I recall the ODA used a bunch of DYNCORP guys who almost rolled thier uparmored SUV driving at night with no night vision equiment.

We actually called it Shareban when we were talking with Iraqis but because of the change we had to call it by the name it was officially known as. I actually never met an Iraqi, young or old, that ever called the area "Muqdadiyah" on first thought.
