The church shown in the picture is Karja Katarina Church in Leisi parish. Karja is the historic name of the (church) parish and the congregation. The church itself stays in Linnaka village close to Karja settlement. However, there are at least two settlements named Leisi in Saaremaa island. The one this particular picture is showed right now is located in Pöide parish and is a very small village with no more than a dozen households and definitely no church. Other and bigger one is Leisi in Leisi parish, has been a proper borough before Russian occupation (WW II). The picture is obviously placed by name Leisi, but this time it is the name of today’s parish.
