Einfach herrlich, was auch das wechselhafte Wetter der letzten Tage zulässt. Ein klasse Bild.

When I looked at the thumbnail, Larry, I wondered whether the shot might be weakened by the light area in the upper left. But the contours and the lighting are superb, and I think that area only adds depth.

Many thanks, Eva and Mary Alice.
As you can see on the map, this is wonderfully accessible from the road. There's much area behind this rock face that I haven't explored, but there's a path at one end of the public area, and someday I may see what I can see. This day, however, we'd already done quite a few things down in the county seat (population about 10,000), and it was time to head for home.
Mary Alice, I understand your enthusiasm. Is there a faint chance that some long-term strategy is possible? Are you aware that many companies that make prints from digital files also produce books of your photos at quite reasonable rates. I've used Shutterfly, but mostly I've used a Canadian company, PhotoInPress, and I've had picture books made (just for us) of each of our trips since I've had a digital camera. The minimum number of pages is twenty, and you can put one or more than one photo per page. Could you think of developing your "portfolio" with the hope that you might be able to show him a copy to demonstrate that you are the skilled photographer that you are. Then just possibly you could offer to "document" the quarry and give him a book that would include your "record" of the place. I know it's a long shot, but we can dream, can't we?
Best wishes, Marilyn
