Hello Dave, Agree, one of the best ways to see this forest is through the windscreen on a wet day! I have done so on many occasions, it certainly does capture the mood of the forest.
One of my favorite over-night stopping places when I'm on the Kaikoura Coast road. The weather can be pretty nasty, but there is always plenty of driftwood for a roaring fire, & the views are great.
