waar vroeger de huishoudschool stond wat een plastic. Op de toren van de Martinuskerk heb ik nooit oog kunnen krijgen. Waarom na de oorlog niet gewoon de oude toren er weer neergezet. Die hoorde gewoon bij Venlo net als het Stadhuis.

Daar ben ik geboren in 1933 en heb ik gewoond tot 1955 toen heeft de Venlose Krant die 4 huizen van mijn grootmoeder gekocht . Ze gaan er nu veeeeeel te dure appartementen bouwen ( je weet wel - projectontwikkelaars) de bovenste verdieping moet iets van 600.000 euro gaan kosten. Hoogmoed komt voor den val. Dat zien we nu toch. Wie bouwt er nu in het "potloodstraatje" (in de volksmond rond 1900) voor 600.000 euro ?? Ben nu 75 en zou graag naar Venlo terug willen komen. Maar voorlopig niet naar d'n Beerendonk.

Thanks for your comment! This picture was made in july 2007, a few days after the official opening of the restored 'thermes'. It's no wonder everything lookes spic and span on the picture and on the other ones i've posted. In a small exhibition inside the complex pictures were shown of the situation before the restauration. 'In ruins' is the correct description. wb
