mitcheroo's conversations
I remember the truck, and a deluxe set of wooden blocks. There was a cloakroom in the back where we stored our nap rugs. Opening the tiny lunchtime milk cartons took serious concentration.
We learned songs - the standard repertoire; remember "I'm a little teapot"? We once each posed beside a spotlight for Mrs. Redvict while she traced a silhouette of our face, and hung the resulting portraits in the classroom. On the day before Thanksgiving we traced our own spread-fingered hands to create a colorful turkey out of construction paper. Nothing else smells quite like the paste we used in kindergarten.
Near the end of the year she started us on learning the alphabet, and by June it was old hat. Then it was one last kiss for the teacher, and out the door for good.
I saw her some years later, and she still knew who I was. I was wishing she'd been my teacher every year.

I miss the old Colvard Union. It was old, it was Bauhaus, it was odd... but I miss it.

...remember the arcade inside with bowling?

Nice portfolio...I spent a couple of years working in Wichita. Took many shots in the flint Hills. I'll post a few.

This is the Treasure Bay property. I'd love to see more "old" photos of my native homeland too, especially before the casinos.

The tunnel used in Close Encounters of the Third Kind (as Neary drove east down this westbound lane chasing UFOs).

Definitely NOT from the 1/11/54 storm, my folks were still in Indiana. This must be the aftermath of the '56 storm of March 18-19.

Gas transmission line for New Jersey Natural Gas. Took about a month of research to figure out exactly where these pics were taken. That Malapardis house on left was recently demolished or salvaged to make way for a new house. Roof of another house visible just behind the loader. That's a '62 Ford center left.

OMG! These photos bring back so many memories for me! Do you have any more? I lost all mine in the storm. Thanks, it really was a beautiful place, even before the Casinos.

Was hoping someone would post a Layton store pic. Been through there many times as a kid.
