Keith Levit first picked up a second hand camera twenty-five years ago. The ensuing years have seen Keith creatively pursue his concept of merging photography and art, in both the black and white and colour mediums. Although based in Winnipeg, many of Keith’s images have been created during his extensive travels throughout Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and North & South America. His passion for photography, love of travel and adventure, coupled with his sensitive, profound, honest affection for people, embody images that capture the heart and soul of the world’s most remote and inaccessible regions and the people who inhabit them. Keith transcends the medium of travel-photojournalism capturing the mystical beauty, harmony and hardships of the inhabitants of these lands.
Recently Keith has been interested in creating a library of architectural images that see buildings and their intricate details with new insight and perspective. Inspiration for his work has been found in many of the world’s great cities, from Paris to Moscow, Beijing to New York. Each of his images engages the viewer and enlightens with detail.
Keith’s focus on Winnipeg Heritage buildings is also widely recognized and respected. On permanent display at the Winnipeg International Airport, International Arrival Lounge, is an exhibit of Keith’s work that explores classic architecture within Winnipeg and captures the legacy of our great buildings. Keith’s heritage photography is also prominently displayed at Winnipeg City Hall in Mayor’s Gallery, The Four Points Sheraton and Fairmont hotels.
Beyond his interests in travel and architecture, Keith is actively involved in the community. Recently, his work has included photographing the live performances for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the Chai Dancers and many other community groups.
Keith promotes his business of commercial and fine art photography under the name of Keith Levit Photography. His boundless passion for photography is evident at his web-sites www.keithlevitphotography.com
