On 4 July 2010 we visited this 'lake' on a guided trip. The eruption on 20 April melted the glacier so that melt water gushed down the fissure on the right of the glacier into the lake, which then overflowed and emptied into the river valley below, causing extensive flooding that was then covered with layers of ash.
