Bonjour Pierre
Come visit a living chateau, inhabited by the same family since 1728, and nestled in the midst of a woods only 16 miles from Tours. Built during the Renaissance, then modernized during the 1700's, the chateau de Champchevrier is protected by moats that are still filled with waater. The kings Louis XI and Louis XIII came to hunt in this area full of game, where the hunting tradition is still alive.
From the old kitchens with their impressive collection of copper utensils, to the formal rooms xwhich are richly furnished, one is pleasantly surprised by the rich interior decor, including Regency furniture and the exceptional collection of 17th century tapestries. Champchevrier is simultaneously a remarkable historical monument and a vibrant family seat where each generation has wanted to transmit their love for and respect of this heritage. The visit is an unforgettable walk between the present and the past, nature and culture where traditions still current guide your steps.
