This was taken in early August on the day after I took the photo in Twilight Creek you commented on.
While there is no snow on the ground on Cathedral Peak in the photo, I recall that the day was cold and cloud over Cathedral Peak dropped a bit of sleet as it moved down Horse Creek.
Hey Ralph, nice to know somebody reads this! I was with the Youth Conservation Corps in 1977 based out of The Wind River Ranch 18 miles west of Dubois. We were assigned to clean up the trash around Deacon Lake that day. Well, our crew leaders all missed it! I'm so happy they did as we checked out Lake Pocket first and then all us teens ended here at the head of Twilight Creek. The winds were calm and it was just the most beautiful warm afternoon as we laid on the grass. We found Deacon Lake the next day. The day we were right here was perhaps the most enriching moment of that whole summer of 1977. A summer of very hard work and very hard play. I have always remembered it and I would really like to go back next summer!-Kirk Bolton
