Eamon Martin's conversations

Just curious about Doon as I have relatives there but the only name I have is Rheamsbothom who had a daughter who married a Hewitt and had a daughter Katherine Wray (Hewitt), Does anyone out there know anything about Doon castle as aparently I had relatives that lived across the road from the castle but have no real follow up information. My mother visited there over 50 years ago and said that she stayed with these relatives so lots of pictures only

Hi Eamon, Great Photo. What was the occasion? I was driving down killiney hill road a few months back and the gates to the Martello tower were open and I saw a few redcoats in the grounds, needless to say I nearly crashed the car what with the road being narrow and twisted and the thoughts of being invaded by the English again ha ha. Was this for a film or a historical society?

Thats the place Bealnamulia ,a beautiful name but what does it mean in English.

To day we feel very, very, very Irish . Tomorrow is another day when we could feel Italian, but do look in when passing.

Old man to boy: I would love to see this place in a hundred years....Boy: Sure it will be always called Gravestones just like the two we are sitting on....

And I am praying to God on High,And I am praying to him night and day,For a little house- a house of my own- Out of the winds and the rains way...

Taken from Padraic Colums poem An Old Woman of the Roads.

A lovley shot, wish i could be there at evenings glow .

St Anns RC Church when dogs could roam at will and Ford cars could park with no worries of being clamped . That was the London I knew in 1958 .
