This Island was apparently the theme behind the famous shanty, "fifteen men on a dead man's chest yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum. Drink and the devil had done for the rest, yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum". The shanty was made famous from R. L. Stevensons "Treasure Island", but is a bit of unintelligible at first glance.

Now the actual name of this island is "Dead Man's Chest", and story has it that the pirate Blackbeard once marooned a mutinous crew there, leaving each hand a bottle of rum and a cutlass. He was hoping they'd all kill eachother. But when he eventually returned after 30 days, he found 15 men still alive. The rest were dead.
