Millmount was known to us kids as the cup and saucer, It was a ruin then, having been shelled during the civil war in 1922. In recent years it has been renovated beautifully. The old wall in the middle distance is partially hiding an archway that was and is known as the Butter Gate when Drogheda was a walled town. Perhaps rural butter producers had to pay a toll there as they came to the market. I used to Mitch from School there.
