Nice set of D.C. area photos!
This is the Ripley Center entrance. I have a composite of what is down there mentioning the passages to the Sackler and Museum of African Art. They are not particularly obvious and it can get a bit spooky fun for kids to duck in one and pop out in one of the museums. This is the Freer Gallery entrance. The Sackler entrance is under the six pyramids to the east of the Freer. The Sackler collection is in below ground galleries connected to the Freer by an underground gallery.
The cupola to the northeast of the Freer and to the left in this photo is the entrance to the Ripley Center. The Freer, Sackler, Museum of African Art and the Ripley Center are all connected underground.

This is the Freer Gallery courtyard. The Sackler is largely below ground next door. The two are connected by an underground gallery. Both focus on Asian art. The Freer has Whistler's Peacock Room and works by American master painters as well.
There was a legal stipulation in the donation that created the Freer limiting changes or additions to the collection, thus the Sackler.
