In 1955 the brutaly murdered body of a woman was found inside this pillbox, on her body written in red lipstick were the words 'I am VD'. The woman was identified as Alice Barton, but her murder still remians a complete mystery as no killer or motive was ever found. In 1957 the first sighting of her ghost was reported by a postman on his rounds. The postman reported seeing a shadowy figure of a woman gliding along as if was on wheels towards the pillbox. Later in the same year on a summers night by candle light, a group of 5 young adults were using a ouija board in the pillbox after hearing the stories of the ghost. The board kept spelling out a mans name over and over until the glass flew off the board and smashed. At that moment a shadowy figure materialised behind them in the pillbox. The young adults ran terrified, behind them they could hear the screams of a woman who sounded in terrible pain. I found all this info out by reading Haunted Liverpool Volume 11 by Tom Slemen an excelent book and highly recomended.
