Just so you don't believe that this is a random act of erosion I've located a Buddhist temple in
Thailand that will provide you with the image of
what the Church/ Stupa Rock "ruins" would look like today if they had been maintained for the last 1500 +/- years. Google: "Phra That Na Dun"

Notice the orange bottom border on Church Rock and
the remnants of the white plaster that once covered the entire structure that are still visable on the top of the huge mound and in patches on the secondary mound and the spire base.
