manhattan at approx -20°C? Holy shit. That will freeze Hamburgers in their pan!

I was walking around this area...... Is there any way to get to Manhattan by walking (George Washington Bridge?) und sort of personel ferries that cross the Hudson River?

cheers, michael

Hello T. M. Ayne ... only a few people nowadays would link the words "swamp" and "beautiful" ... and northern swamps are remarkable in Winter too (and fewer Water Moccasins than down south!) Regards, Wally

... a really nice shot ... eyecatching elements ...

... curiosity may have killed the cat, but it only got the dog wet ...

... a reflection in there too, and the log recedes nicely at an angle ...

... "Reflections on a Mudpuddle" ... even the most mundane will inspire the artist in the photographer ...

This tree is a local favorite! I am blessed to view this daily! I heard there is a story about the boulder there?

I know historical documents aren't always accurate, but Dead Pond is typically shown on early documents nearly twice the size of that which it now is. My guess is, if the current hand dug outlet (the ditch below the wooden bridge) was filled in to its original elevation, the pond would grow significantly. You can picture it if you scan the banks while hiking the pond's perimeter.
