Beautiful!Absolutely!

Hello Martin. Despite my German-sounding name, I live in the U.S. and my German is very poor... so you will have to suffer through my email written in English (sorry).

Thanks for your message about the Tabun Kara Obo Crater. I will send the photo to the folks at the Earth Impact Database. I personally did not bring any of the rocks back from the crater, but one of the students who I was working with did, He wrote a senior thesis at Colorado College on the geology of the impact structure. However, that was in 2004. I'm not sure what has happened to him or the samples since he graduated. You can read a short version of his thesis that he published with the Keck Geology Consortium (which funded our research-educational trip to Mongolia at the following web site: http://www.keckgeology.org/files/pdf/symvol/17th/mongolia/panderson.pdf

I spoke with Christian Koeberl - Univ. of Vienna, at the GSA meeting this past October and he told me that he has a Mongolian student doing research on the Tabun Kahara structure and that they might drill it next summer. I'm sure you could get more info from him. His web site is: http://www.univie.ac.at/geochemistry/koeberl/index.htm
