However, Glen is the Gaelic name for a valley. The main village in the valley of Glencoe is properly called Carnach (A`Charnaich in Scots Gaelic) - not Glencoe village.

Glencoe means "Glen of the river Coe or Cona" as in Ossianic mythology.

I had some slides taken there in 1971, while I was waiting to cross on the ferry from North Ballachulish.

The image can be improved somewhat with a bit of Photoshop-ing.
