On behalf of the American Modernists, I want to apologize for not appreciating the culture of the Iraqi people. I can believe that prior to 1918 A.D. (1296 A.H.) Mosul was as beautiful city as Old Jerusalem. Anyone who proposed demolishing Old Jerusalem would be shouted out of the room. I am sorry that any proponents of preserving Old Mosul could not garner enough votes on the 1930 municipal council.
