kuttanad is a very beatiful place in the Distrct of Alapuzha. it is famous for snake boat race conducted on 2nd Saturday of August every year.Kuttanadu is derived from two words kuttan ie Budha and Nadu means place. thus Kuttanadu means Budha's Place.There ia place in kuttanadu Called Karumady where a very ancient Budha statue was recovered and it is still there and it is called Karumady Kuttan
