thanks steve, interesting link.this tree is very much used as an ornamental plant and the climate clearly suits it here.i have yet to see a sick one so im thinking that the wee beasties that destroy it in your hemisphere, don't make it here.it only takes one plant.im not aware of any longhaul importing going on,i think the young plants are propogated in this part of the world.

thanks alan,i also wanted to pop down into the nearby port which is interesting but i did not have time.later.

John Couldn't agree more, I think that I will take a break in posting any more comments in the forums, too much bad karma around. I will however continue to post photos, visit friend's galleries and post comments. Must get off to work, early start today :-) Regards Geoff

Thanks for the y* Brian. If the solution is that it will take a few hours for comments to appear, then I can live with that. Sometimes I think that we are trying to swim against a strong tide, just as we seem to be getting somewhere, something else happens and another problem occurs. It's such a pity, because of all the photo sharing sites this fits my requirements the best. Any way, back to the photo, I am back in New York next week and so I will be looking to post some more photos over the Christmas period. This was taken 4 years ago. Regards Geoff

its all thanks to you steve,i could never get a night shot with the other one.i've even taken shots of ships miles out to see in the bay.the lights look great but i need a tripod for the long exposure.i have already looked at your flower shots.wonderful.
